Coarse fishing for Carp

September 2008

Oakland’s Fishery

A carp for a novice anglerThis looked like being a very busy day with the upper limit of 20 students expected.

Disappointingly on the day only 5 students turned up. Especially frustrating for the fishery manager Mick Brown who had put effort into promoting the event in the local press and on the radio.

The day ran much as was planned with the lesson plan. The morning taken up with coaching and the afternoon trying to get all of the students a fish or two.

All but one of the students caught fish – Carp being the main species caught. As opposed to Mount Falcon weather wise it was a fantastic day. First thing it was misty but once this burned off by about 10.30 it was a scorching day. Our select band of anglers all went away with smiles.

The SRFB again provided a goody bag for the students to take away and certificates were sent out the following week.
